Protecting Your SNAP Benefits

Take action now or you may lose your SNAP benefits in May!

The federal government passed a new law that means some people in Illinois must work or volunteer 80 hours per month to keep Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also called “SNAP” or “LINK”) benefits for more than 3 months. MOST SNAP recipients can be exempt from this rule. If IDHS decides you are “exempt”, then the work requirements will not apply to you.
