WHAT IS THE Legal Health Check-Up TooL?

The Legal Health Check-Up Tool is a web-based legal health “check-up” tool that allows individuals to screen themselves for risks of legal problems that can profoundly impact their well-being, including maintaining safe and affordable housing, overcoming debt or financial scams, navigating healthcare or other public benefits and elder abuse.

The Legal Health Check-Up Tool is intended for residents of Suburban Cook County who are age 60+. It can also be used by caregivers and service providers who are assisting older adults. Once the assessment is completed, a report is generated that categorizes the individual’s risk as “low,” “medium,” or “high.” With informed consent, the report is sent electronically to Legal Aid Chicago for follow-up and appropriate action. This report can also be printed or emailed to service providers and caregivers.
