WHAT IS THE ELDER RISK DETECTOR?

The Elder Risk Detector is a web-based legal health “check-up” tool that allows individuals to screen themselves for risks of legal problems that can profoundly impact their well-being, including maintaining safe and affordable housing, overcoming debt or financial scams, navigating healthcare or other public benefits and elder abuse.
The Elder Risk Detector is intended for adults age 60+. It can also be used by caregivers and service providers who are assisting older adults. Once the assessment is completed, a report is generated that categorizes their risk as “low,” “medium,” or “high.” This report can be printed or emailed to them. With informed consent, the report is sent electronically to Legal Aid Chicago for follow-up and appropriate action.
This tool was developed collaboratively with AgeOptions, Legal Aid Chicago, and Pro Bono Net.
